The Future For AI Is Insane! It Can Think On Its Own

Last week, I spoke in Houston with the Chief Innovation Officer of eXp Realty, Seth. He’s a really smart guy who attends many AI and tech events, and he shared some pretty cool insights from his most recent trip to OpenAI.

Introducing “Agentic” AI

He talked about an “agentic” AI. Agentic AI is like automation on steroids.

Traditional Automation vs. Agentic AI

Most automation tools work on an “if/then” basis. For example, if a lead books an appointment, then send them a confirmation email—pretty straightforward, right? Now, here’s the difference with agentic AI.

Agentic AI in Action

Seth gave this example: let’s say you like prospecting FSBOs. You could set up an AI that monitors all FSBOs on Zillow. When a FSBO has a price reduction, your agentic workflow starts. It can scrape the seller’s contact info, analyze the property details, prepare a fully personalized email to the seller, and send it—all without you lifting a finger.

The Shift to Autonomy

The shift to agentic AI is all about autonomy. Right now, most AI tools are “generative” AI: they can create stuff for you, but you have to write the prompts and give the instructions. You have to tell it what to do and when to do it, whereas agentic AI can make decisions on its own.

Trying Agentic AI Today

I haven’t personally dabbled with this yet. I know ChatGPT has its own autonomous AI tool called Operator, but it’s only available on the $200/mo plan. I don’t think it’s necessary for everyone to upgrade—especially if you’re not a programmer or developer. I predict it will eventually roll out to Plus plan subscribers ($20/mo). As more updates come out, I’ll keep you posted. I only heard the term “agentic” for the first time last week, so this is still pretty new to me.
